Man Gets 3 Years For Stabbing Police Officer In Kakata

MONROVIA, June 15 (LINA) – For stabbing Police Officer Nathan G. Marshall in his stomach, Abraham Zero, a resident of Camp #1 in Harbel, Firestone has been sentenced to three years imprisonment.

Judge Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay of the 13th Judicial Circuit Court in his ruling confirmed the unanimous guilty verdict brought against Zero by the trial jury.

“... the unanimous verdict of the trial jury is hereby confirmed and affirmed. Defendant Abraham Zero is hereby adjudged guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for a period of three years effective the date of this judgment,” he ruled.

The incident took place on November 16, 2016 when officers of the Liberia National Police were on normal patrol in the Harbel Market.

Testifying in open court, Officer Marshall revealed that upon hearing a complaint that Zero was in possession of a sharp instrument, the police approached him and asked him to surrender the instrument, but he instead attacked them and stabbed him (Officer Marshall) in the stomach.

During the trial, defendant Zero admitted that his statement of confession at the police was his true statement.

He has been remanded at a maximum prison in Kakata, Margibi County.
