Voter Exhibition Only To Rectify Errors During Voter Registration – NEC

By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, June 15 (LINA) - National Elections Commission (NEC) Chairman Jerome Korkoya has clarified that the exhibition of the provisional voter registration roll is intended to rectify errors identified during the voter registration process for the 2017 elections.

According to Chairman Korkoyah, registrants discovering any fault on their data will have the opportunity to highlight them and will in no way prevent them from voting.

Chairman Korkoyah made the clarification Wednesday during a press conference he hosted at the NEC headquarters in the Monrovia suburb of Sinkor.

He noted that some Liberians are complaining that their pictures did not appear on the provisional registration rolls being displayed at various centers across the country, adding, “They do not need to panic over the situation.”

He reassured that the NEC is prepared to ensure that the 2017 Presidential and Legislative elections are conducted in a credible manner across the country.

Chairman Korkoyah emphasized that the process will continue up to June 28 at election magistrate offices after the exhibition process in the various counties, and warned against unnecessary alarm from individuals.
